Most Bigfoot mysteries go unsolved. There's either no evidence or evidence that isn't sufficient, like a blurry picture or a print in mud that sort of looks like an oversized foot. This one is one of the ones that police were able to get to the bottom of. It started with several sightings being reported to the Damariscotta Police Department in Damariscotta, Maine last week. Due to what the police department reported on Facebook were an "unusually high number of calls" they launched an investigation and determined that "Bigfoot is not real." An officer located the Bigfoot and, after a conversation, determined that it was a man in a costume. Not just any costume, a "very convincing costume." (Getty Images) The police department took some positive aspects away from the investigation despite the disappointment that a hat wearing Bigfoot was nothing more than a man in a costume. BIGFOOT HUNTER SUGGESTS THERE'S A CONSPIRACY AFTER CORNELL UNIVERSITY DENIES CONDUCTING DNA TESTS ON REMAINS "We greatly appreciate everyone’s excitement, curiosity, and willingness to keep an eye out for one another," they wrote. "While we didn't find Bigfoot, we did find something almost as rare: A town full of people willing to stop what they're doing to investigate a Bigfoot sighting and keep each other safe," the police department's post continued. They may not have had a Bigfoot wandering around their town and the several sightings turned out to be nothing, but the folks of Damariscotta have something more important than that.
