The Cessna Caravan C-208 aircraft, operated by Peruvian airline Aerodiana, crashed in the Socos area, about 6km from Nazca city, after departing from Pisco Airport. The crew reported an emergency to Nazca airport control tower at 1.00pm local time before losing radio contact, with the plane subsequently catching fire. The plane was conducting a scenic flight over the Nazca Lines, a significant archaeological tourist attraction in Peru, which draws around 100,000 visitors annually. The cause of the crash is currently unknown, and Peruvian authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
