Add The New York Post on Google BROCKTON, Massachusetts — The holdout juror who sparked a mistrial in the Lindsay Clancy murder case did not allow his Catholic faith to override his judgment that the former nurse was guilty of murder, his brother revealed to The Post — as he said the family’s life has been turned up-side down. “I don’t think religion had anything to do with it,” the brother said, disputing claims online. The bombshell Clancy trial turned national attention to the juror, whom The Post is choosing not to name — with some labeling him a hero for refusing to find Clancy not guilty, and other jurors claiming he refused to follow the judge’s instructions about “reasonable doubt.” “He looked at the case, and he made the call,” the brother said. “For me, that’s how I would do it. Those charges were dismissed, but in 2025 he was accused of beating the teenage nephew who called police on him during the alleged domestic violence attack, according to court records. The juror had a restraining order against him from the nephew at the time he was picked for the Clancy jury — and it expired during the trial, court documents reveal. The brother also said that the devoutly Catholic Haitian immigrant clan has been relentlessly hounded by true-crime gawkers and reporters since the juror refused to agree with the 11 others and find Clancy not guilty of murder by reason of insanity after she killed her three kids. 4 “My family cannot leave the house,” the brother said. “They are leaving notes at my mother’s house. They won’t leave us alone and we don’t know anything,” he added. “People have been calling me like crazy. It’s crazy.” None of the family had any idea the last week of mayhem that was headed for them after the case ended in an explosive mistrial on Sept. 4 — the juror didn’t tell any of them he was serving on the headline-making case. “We didn’t know. That’s why I was shocked,” the brother said. “He didn’t tell us anything.” Clancy, 36, admitted to strangling her three kids — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month Callan — with exercise bands and then attempting suicide at their Duxbury home after asking her husband to leave the house on an errand. But she claimed the killings were driven by a months-long struggle with extreme postpartum psychosis , which she claims was misdiagnosed and not properly treated by doctors. Instagram/@heardwithlove A supporter launched a GiveSendGo fundraiser for the juror on Monday, which brought in nearly $190,000 in a matter of hours. Claims about the juror’s religious beliefs over-riding the judge’s instructions were fueled by comments from prosecutors and their witnesses that explicitly invoked the Catholic idea of “mortal sin” of murder and suicide during the trial — drawing rebukes from the judge. Potential jurors are required to disclose whether they had ever been arrested, charged with a crime or been served a court order — pertinent disclosures for this particular juror with a history of domestic allegations, as the Clancy case involved the most severe form of domestic violence. It’s not clear how the juror answered those questions. After the juror’s 2021 domestic violence arrest, his own mother yelled “You’re evil” while he was hauled away, according to court docs. Charges over the incident were later dismissed and the juror divorced his wife, who told NBC Boston she didn’t want to testify for fear of losing custody of her child. The ex-wife, who posed for a photo with Boston Mayor Michelle Wu after completing an English language program and enrolling in community college, is studying to become a nurse, one neighbor told The Post. Her family said that they are scared of the juror. But in 2025 more allegations arose against the juror after he allegedly attacked the same nephew who called police — with the juror shoving the teen to the ground and hitting him in the face, according to a restraining order. “You ruined my [expletive] life,” the juror reportedly yelled at the teen, according to an affidavit. “You’ve had this coming your way for a long time.” 4 Clancy in court during her explosive trial for killing her kids. USA TODAY Network via Reuters Connect But others in the juror’s life saw him as a church-going man who was generous. “He is a really nice guy,” said the owner of a local garage where the juror takes his car for repairs and regularly fuels up. “He goes to church.” “He paid for a lady the other day who couldn’t pay her gas,” the business owner added. “She said, ‘I can’t pay.’ And he went right over and paid her bill.” And the mechanic shop boss wasn’t surprised to hear his customer was the holdout juror who refused to find Clancy not guilty by reason of insanity.
