Read our Privacy notice Universal Studios Florida is saying goodbye to one of its final remaining opening-day attractions after 36 years. Animal Actors On Location! is set to permanently close after its final performances on November 2, with the Orlando venue set to make way for a new experience, the resort confirmed to The Independent . “We are grateful for the countless memorable moments it has provided our guests over the years. More details about the future development of the space will be shared at a later time,” Universal said in a statement. The live-animal show debuted when the park opened on June 7, 1990. It originally operated as Animal Actors Stage, became Animal Planet Live in 2001 and took its current name in 2006. The production features trained dogs, cats, birds, pigs and other animals performing tricks and stunts with their handlers in an outdoor theater, along with comedy skits, audience participation and video segments. open image in gallery Animal Actors On Location, an attraction at Universal Studios Florida since the park opened in 1990, is set to close after its final performance on November 2 ( Google Maps ) Its performers have included animal stars from movies and TV, such as Frank the Pug from “Men in Black” and Marley from “Marley & Me,” while some animals were rescued from shelters. The attraction is one of just three still operating at Universal Studios Florida that date to the park’s opening. The others are E.T. Adventure and Universal Orlando ’s Horror Make-Up Show, which has undergone several changes over the years. The soon-to-be-departing show also has a special connection to Universal executive Adam Kingsley , vice president of park operations for the North Campus, who began his 30-year career with Universal Orlando as an Animal Actors attendant. “Animal Actors holds a special place in the hearts of many Team Members and Guests. We are grateful for the legacy of this attraction and the Team Members who made it so special,” Kingsley said in a statement, according to popular Disney blog WDW News Today . The closure comes as Universal continues to update its Orlando parks with new attractions. The surrounding area, formerly home to Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone, was transformed into DreamWorks Land, which opened in 2024.
